Multipurpose Terminal YUG-2 (the port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad Region) has unloaded a 380-tonne cargo unit, the heaviest unit throughout its history, onto a berth for further transportation, says press center of Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga.
The unit is intended for a EuroChem plant which is under construction in Kingisepp.
The unit was moved by the shipboard cranes to the berth onto special structures under which a hydraulic modular trailer was placed for further transportation.
In the nearest time, the terminal will accept even heavier unit for the same plant. A 600-tonne unit will also be delivered by a ship and then reloaded to a barge for further transportation to the construction side by waterways: across the gulf and then along the river.
In the future, EuroChem is going to supply its product from Kingisepp via its new terminal being built in Ust-Luga.
Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga OJSC is a stevedoring company operating multipurpose terminal YUG-2 and Auto-Railway Ferry Terminal.
Multi-purpose transshipment complex Yug-2 handles rolling cargoes, mainly new imported cars, containers and general cargo. Yug-2 is the only highly specialized motor car terminal in Russia capable of handling ro-ro and con-ro vessels.
