Port of Rostov-on-Don seven-month volumes rose by 12.3% to 11.9 million tonnes
Freight traffic at the Port of Rostov-on-Don between January and July rose 12.3% on the same period a year earlier to more than 11 million tonnes of different cargoes, the Port Harbourmaster Andrey Iovlev told PortNews regional correspondent.
Crude oil and petroleum products exports increased by 2% to 3,808 million tonnes, shipments of grain leaped by 28.3% to 2,9 million tonnes, non-cereal bulk cargo volume rose 5% to 1,628 million tonnes, handling of grab bulk (coal and coke) cargo soared by 46.7% to 1,3 million tonnes, of general cargo – by 17.1% to 319,000 tonnes, of edible oil – by 35.8% to 315,000 tonnes. In contrast, the volume of scrap metal dropped 37.9% to 421,000 tonnes.
Loading of cargo onto ships increased by 7.9% to 7,205,000 tonnes, of transit cargo – by 26.1% to 3,369 million tonnes, while offloaded volumes declined by 4% to 435,000 tonnes.
In the reporting period the Harbourmaster office granted permission to 3479 arrivals and 3652 departures (2016 – 3159/3210).
The volume of bunker fuel supplied at the port shrank by 48.7% to 44,200 tonnes.
