Maersk to apply PSS on India-US trade
Maersk Line will apply a peak-season surcharge on shipments from India to the U.S. and Canada, starting June 15, the Journal of Commerce reported.
The planned surcharges will be $360 per 20-foot, $450 per 40-foot, $500 per 40-foot high cube and $560 per 45-foot high cube container.
“This surcharge is necessary to ensure the high service levels that customers are used to when doing business with Maersk Line,” Maersk India said.
The move follows a similar announcement by Singapore-based container carrier APL on the same trade routes. Effective June 10, APL will impose surcharges of $480 per 20-foot, $600 per 40-foot, $675 per 40-foot high cube and $760 per 45-foot high cube container.
