Cooperation Program “South-East Finland – Russia 2014-2020” approved by European Commission

On December 28th 2015 the European Commission approved the Joint Operational Programme document for the “South-East Finland – Russia 2014-2020” Cross-Border Cooperation Program, says press center of Marine Façade. The approval means that the Joint Monitoring Committee and the Management body of the new program will be appointed in the first quarter of 2016. Further selection of projects for the program depends on the financial agreement negotiations between the European Commission and other participating countries. The results of this process are expected by the end of 2016.

The project of “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC on the Russian Federation state border checkpoint reconstruction at the seaport Passenger port of Saint Petersburg is included in the list of large-scale infrastructure projects that are receiving the Programme grant.

On December 9th 2015 in the city of Kotka, Republic of Finland, an agreement on cooperation was signed between “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Marine Façade” PLC, Port HaminaKotka Oy and Cursor Oy. The agreement was signed as part of implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects of the Cross-Border Cooperation program “South-East Finland – Russia 2014-2020” of the European Neighborhood Instrument. Under the agreement the parties will participate in the following projects:

- reconstruction of the Russian Federation state border checkpoint at the seaport Passenger port of Saint Petersburg

- infrastructure project “Creating conditions for international ferry traffic at the Kotka Kantasatama terminal”

- attracting ferry and cruise line operators to set up constant passenger traffic between Passenger port of Saint Petersburg and Port HaminaKotka.
