Construction costs at Russian shipyards are up to 1.5 times lower when prices are nominated in foreign currency amid rouble devaluation, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Aleksandr Solovyov, Director General of Vyborg Shipyard, as saying at the International Forum on Shipbuilding and Safe Shipping “Fishing Fleet – New Impulse to Development”.
According to him, the problem is in the lack of serial construction, hence the higher cost of construction. It takes Vyborg Shipyard 28 months to build a lead ship for a fishing fleet under a ‘turn-key’ principle and it takes some 8 months to build a serial ship.
Representative of Okskaya Shipyard said in his turn that construction costs at Okskaya Shipyard have decreased 1.5 times.
