Share of national shipboard equipment to be increased to 75% by 2035
The share of national shipboard equipment is to be increased to 75% by 2035, Denis Manturov, RF Minister of Industry and Trade, said when commenting on the Shipbuilding Industry Development Strategy for the period till 2035 recently approved by the Russian Government, says press center of the Ministry.
“The purpose of the Strategy is to ensure construction of modern ships and build up production by 2.2 times. To this end, key production facilities of the industry should be loaded by up to 80% by 2035, production productivity is to be doubled and the share of national components in the end product of civil shipbuilding is to be increased to 75%”, said the Minister.
Under the innovative scenario of the Strategy implementation, which is considered to be the most realistic one, shipbuilding industry will show stable rates of growth amid moderate economic growth. With conditions foreseen by this scenario, the share of civil shipbuilding products will reach 44% while exports of civil shipbuilding products will make about RUB 25 billion.
“By 2035, exports of Russian shipbuilding products will almost double driven first of all by exports of civil marine equipment”, emphasized Denis Manturov.
His estimations show that the demand of the internal market for civil ships and marine equipment till 2035 includes the following newbuilds: 250 seagoing cargo ships and more than 1,500 cargo ships of mixed sea/river navigation, 1,640 fishing ships and more than 250 units of auxiliary and technical ships and facilities, 90 research ships, 24 icebreakers and about 150 units for offshore projects.
The Strategy will contribute to optimization of production facilities, their modernization and upgrading. That will let bring shipbuilding companies to a new level and meet the demands of the state and other customers in modern sophisticated ships, the Ministry’s statement says.
