Viking Neptun named and ready to operate for Technip
Viking Neptun was delivered from Kleven Verft to Eidesvik 17 February, and the naming ceremony was held in Stavanger 28 February, the company said in its press release.
The vessel's Godmother, Patricia Pilenko, broke the champagne bottle, wishing vessel and crew a safe journey. Viking Neptun will now start operating on a chart for Technip in the North Sea.
The offshore construction vessel is the largest in Eidesvik's fleet, and the largest ever built by Kleven Verft. Designed by Salt Ship Design, the vessel is 145 m long and 31 m wide and with accommodation for 150 persons.
One of Viking Neptun's unique qualities is the focus on high redundancy, which makes her extremely reliable in all operations.
With 9 propellers - 2 main propellers from Wärtsila (twin-in and single-out gearbox) and 7 Brunvoll thrusters - and 8 engines from Wärtsilä, the powerful vessel has a max speed of 17.2 knots.
With ICE 1B class, the vessel is prepared for operations in the Arctic. She also has a helideck for efficient crew change, and a 2600 sqm deck area with flexible layout for a wide range of operations.
