Australian Maritime & Safety Authority has informed shipowners on the proposed levy model for the next five years. In the future, An Australian owner or operator of commercial vessel may be required to pay a levy. This levy is charged to recover the costs of delivering national system services.
As part of the Australian Government's $102.4 million funding package the domestic owner/operator will not be charged a levy in the first year (2018–19).
