Introduction of Polar Code delayed till 2017

Talks stall at Marine Environment Protection Committee meeting at IMO in London and the Polar Code will not be in force until 2017 at the earliest. According to the press center of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia, this has been announced by Turid Stemre, who has been leading the work on elaboration and introduction of the Code.

Ms. Turid Stemre says the latest discussions of the Committee have not lead to the expected result. Therefore, a new working group has been established to promote the discussion.
