Seaborne cargo volume down 22.6% in Russia, to 45.7bn t/km
Russia’s marine transport freight turnover in January-July 2011 dropped 22.6 percent year-on-year, to 45.7 billion ton/km, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
Throughput of the country’s inland waterway transport rose by 10% compared with January-July 2010, to 30 billion t/km.
In the reporting period, total cargo traffic in Russia increased by 4.5% over the same period last year, to 2.8 trillion t/km.
Railway freight traffic grew by 6.6% to 1.224 trillion t/km, truck traffic increased by 9%, to 118.1 billion t/km, air traffic - by 3.5% to 2.7 billion t/km, deliveries by pipelines – by 3.3%, to 1.426 trillion t/km.
