Xiamen port's container traffic up 10.6 percent to 569,000TEUs
Southeast China's port of Xiamen saw a substantial year-on-year growth of 10.6 per cent in its July container throughput to 569,000 TEU, according to the statistical figures from its operator Xiamen Port Group, quoted by Xinhua.
Domestic shipping lanes recorded a container movement of 115,500 TEU, an increase of 27.3 per cent.
In this month, the port handled 13.5 million tonnes of cargo, up 15.4 per cent. Foreign trade cargo soared 30.4 per cent to 7.4 million tonnes.
Xiamen experienced a weak growth of only 4.9 per cent in its throughput in the first half of year, falling far behind Tianjin, Dalian and Lianyungang. This has amounted to the difficulty for the port to meet its target of maintaining a growth of seven per cent this year.
