First call of 46900dwt bulker to Vysotsky Coal Terminal
The MV Sam Dragon (home port Hong Kong) docked on September 11, 2011 at the Coal Terminal in port Vysotsky, the first 46,931DWT bulker ever called to the terminal, Port Vysotsky LLC reported.
The company said the first call of such tonnage ship was possible after overhaul of berths and completion of a dredging project in 2008-2010 under the federal target program "Modernization of Transport System of Russia (2002-2010)." The harbor waters depths were deepened from 9.3 m to 11.9 m. To facilitate the entry of ships at the port, the approach channel was widened by 50 m, which was also equipped with special navaid, including light buoys.
The MV Sam Dragon’s length overall is 190 m, breadth - 32 m, depth - 16.5 m, max draft - 11.7 m. The bulk carrier will take on board 44500 tons of export coal to carry the cargo to UK port of Immingham.
Port Vysotsky LLC specializes in handling of Russian coal exported to Western Europe. In 2010, coal throughput of the company totaled 2.3 million tons.
