Vladivostok port cargo traffic down 7.4 percent to 4.3 million tons
Eight-month volume of cargo handled by FESCO Group’s Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok (CVP) this year fell 7.4 percent from Jan-Aug, 2010, to 4,302,400 tons, the stevedore company said.
The volume of dry bulk, liquid bulk and other general cargoes for the period totaled 2,203,300 tons. Handling of imported new cars and machinery rose by 22.8% to 57,120 units. Daily throughput of the port was on average 17,705.6 tons of various cargoes.
Container traffic surged 30% to 275,202 TEUs, including export containers – 100,779 TEUs, imported containers – 104,237 TEUs and 70,186 TEUs of coastal traffic. Vladivostok Container Terminal handled 189,819 TEUs, other terminals – 85,383 TEUs.
In August, CPV handled 578,800 tons of cargo, including 262,600 tons of dry bulk, liquid bulk and other general cargoes. Monthly container volume was 41,231 TEUs, 14,154 TEUs of them were exports, 15,917 TEUs – imports and 11,160 TEUs were carried by coastal ships. VCT handled 27,033 TEUs, other terminals – 14,198 TEUs.
This August, the port resumed operations with export grain, handling for the period 15,617.8 tons. Year-to-date, CPV transshipped 26,471 tons of grain cargo.
Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok OJSC, part of FESCO Transport Group, owns and operates its assets at the port of Vladivostok, one of the largest Russian seaports in the Far East. Port of Vladivostok encompasses 55 ha, over 14 km of waterfront with 17 berths, including terminals for handling grain, containers, imported cars and a passenger terminal. In 2010, CPV’s cargo throughput rose year-over-year by 11% to 6,9 million tons.
