Resolve Marine to start salvage of the Rena
US salvor Resolve Marine has won the contract to remove the wreck of the Rena in New Zealand, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The 3,351 teu containership owned by Costamare grounded off New Zealand in October and split in two in January this year. Salvage work on the bow of the vessel was reported to be scheduled to start at the weekend.
On Friday Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) said it continued “to liaise with US salvors Resolve, appointed by the Rena’s owners and insurers to undertake wreck removal work”.
