Yangtze cruise prices fall by a third in H1
Prices for cruises down the Yangtze are falling and having a negative effect on revenues for cruise operators along China’s longest river, SinoShipNews reports.
According to information from Chongqing development and reform commission, the luxury cruise business on the river has declined as ticket price dropped sharply during the first half of 2012.
Since May this year, ticket prices have dropped around 33% comparing to the same period last year. Chongqing expects to have 14 luxury cruise ships to start operation this year, but the overcapacity of the market is serious, forcing operators have to cut their prices.
