Evergreen to launch new Myanmar feeder service
Taiwan's bigger container line Evergreen Line will commence the new Straits-Yangon (Myanmar) service, or SYS, from late August in response to increasing market demand for feeder space, Seatrade Asia online reports.
Evergreen will exchange space with Advance Container Lines (ACL) in its Yangon routes to increase the frequency of feeder connections.
Evergreen will deploy 1,164 teu Ever Able to the SYS route. The first sailing will depart Singapore on 21 August, serving the rotation of Singapore, Yangon, Port Klang and back to Singapore in about 11-12 days.
Evergreen will also do a slot exchange with ACL on its Yangon routes (YGS), covering a round voyage of about 10-12 days.
“Myanmar has the advantage of reasonably priced labour and is endowed with abundant natural resources. In addition, recent political and economic reforms have attracted significant amounts of foreign investment to the country, enhancing its potential for long term economic growth,” Evergreen said.
