  APM Terminals and MIV Logistics ink agreement for CFS operations in Kochi

  

  APM Terminals Inland Services recently signed an agreement with MIV Logistics Private Ltd. to manage and operate a new Container Freight station near Vallarpadam terminal in Kochi, Kerala, Daily Shipping Times reported.
  
  The agreement was signed by T. Balakrishnan, Chairman, MIV Logistics Private Ltd. and Subhasis Ghosh, Managing Director, APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd., in the presence of Michael Lund Hansen, Regional Director - Asia Pacific, APM Terminals and the Board of Directors of MIV Logistics.
  
  The agreement was signed by T. Balakrishnan, Chairman, MIV Logistics Private Ltd. and Subhasis Ghosh, Managing Director, APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd., in the presence of Michael Lund Hansen, Regional Director - Asia Pacific, APM Terminals and the Board of Directors of MIV Logistics.  The new CFS will become fully operational by October 2013.
  
  Mr. Balakrishnan said, “The facility, when fully operational, will have the capacity of handling 100,000 TEUs per annum, both for exports & imports. It will have a warehouse storage area of 60,000 sq.ft and an open yard of approximately 5,00,000 sq.ft.”
  
  “The duration of the agreement is 10 years. The facility will be owned by MIV logistics while equipment and personnel will be provided by APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd. All operational expenses will be managed by APM Terminals and revenue will be shared between MIV Logistics & APM Terminals,” added Balakrishnan.
  
   “Vallarpadam in Kochi is emerging as a gateway port for India’s Export Import  trade. This brand new CFS which is strategically located opposite to the port will be a high quality inland logistics infrastructure and will help decongesting the port as trade grows in the future,” said Mr. Subhasis Ghosh.
  
   The development of the CFS was welcomed by the terminal manager of the Vallarpadam port, who sees the benefits of the CFS in de-congesting the landside area of the terminal.
  
   MIV Logistics is promoted by INKEL ltd., in association with MFar enterprises Pvt. Ltd., and VKL estates Pvt. Ltd.
