Tallink opened one of the most modern logistics centers in the region

Tallink Logistics Center coordinating soon the logistics of the goods for the fleet, hotels and offices of AS Tallink Grupp is opened near Tallinn, being one of the largest and modern ones in the region, Tallink Grupp says.

The Head of Tallink Duty Free, Mr. Aimar Pärna said that the calculations showed that due to the size and demand from the logistical point of view, the decision to start operating a central logistical warehouse of its own secures the most sustainable and quick solution for the company.

The company will employ up to 20 new employees, altogether there will be up to 60 people working for the center.

The center is 14 500 square meters and has over 12 kilometers of shelves. Annually, it is able to release 1 million product lines and the plan is to send out 2500 trailers of goods to ships only per year. The center will receive 5000 trucks and 100 000 pallets per year.

The technical solutions are the most modern ones in the market today. The information exchange is all electronically handled, there are new type of vehicles used for transporting the goods inside the warehouse and for providing the ships the trailers with telematics functionality are used, which can be programmed from screens and are observed by GPS.

The center was built by Merko Ehitus AS.

AS Tallink Grupp is among the largest tax free retail sellers in the world on the passenger ships of six different routes crossing the Baltic Sea. The company has ordered a new generation LNG high speed ferry for the Tallinn-Helsinki route, delivered in the beginning of 2017. Currently the company operates with 12 ships on the routes between Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Latvia, transporting up to 9 million people and 300 000 units of cargo every year.
