Khorfakkan expands new Far Eastern service

The new FMS service between the Far East and Gulftainer's Khorfakkan terminal that started operations at the end of 2007 is adding more ships.
The Korean Lines involved in the service, Hanjin, Heung-A, Sinokor, C+ Line, STX Panocean and KMTC have contributed a total of five ships for a weekly service.
Shipping lines are continuing to expand their services to cater for the growth in containerised movements, to ensure that their customers receive the comprehensive and regular coverage that they have come to expect.
Gulftainer director and general manager Peter Richards said calling Khorfakkan allows shipping lines not only fast transhipment to the wider region, but also the use of the terminal as a rapid cost effective gateway into the heart of the UAE's commercial districts.
Gulftainer was established in 1976 in the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. The company's prime role is to manage and operate the container terminals in Port Khalid and also Khorfakkan on behalf of the Sharjah Port Authority.
Complimenting this work, Gulftainer also owns one of the largest heavy transport fleets in the United Arab Emirates, a container repair company, a shipping agency that undertakes local ship/cargo agency work and actively pursues international port management opportunities.
As part of a broad based, privately owned group, Gulftainer is able to meet all the requirements of shipping lines in the UAE and also serve the transport needs of UAE-based traders and manufacturers.
