    OPEC could call upon its members to cut oil production to levels commensurate with 2008 quotas, Iran's representative at the oil cartel Mohammad Ali Khatibi noted. "The return to quotas means not a reduction in oil output, but the return to the terms and conditions of the arrangements made" – Khatibi noted, adding that this is an opportunity that could lead to a market where supply will meet demand to a greater extent than is the case now. 13 members of the oil cartel set the official oil production target for 2008 at 29.67 mn bpd. OPEC is to hold its next regular meeting in Vienna on September 9, 2008.
