HeidelbergCement Group opens new cement terminal in the port of Kaliningrad

HeidelbergCement Group (Germany) has opened its new cement terminal KaliningradCement in Kaliningrad Sea Commercial Port. The terminal opened on Thursday is designed for handling cement delivered by sea-going vessels, its storage and loading to motor transport. The terminal’s initial capacity enables it to handle 200,000 tonnes of cement per year. Up-to-date technologies are applied at the terminal to computerize operational process and to ensure its environmental safety. The terminal is fitted with two filters with purification efficiency of up to 99.9%.

HeidelbergCement has come a long way from the foundation of the first cement plant in Heidelberg in 1873 to one of the leading international building materials group today comprising some 2,700 plants and representation offices in 50 countries of the world. The company’s annual turnover is EUR 11 bln. HeidelbergCement management plans to invest some EUR 1 bln in Russia’s building industry in 2009.
