In January-August 2008, the port of Archangelsk handled 3.424.98 million tonnes of cargo (-3.%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Administration of Archangelsk Seaport Administration. In the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 336,500 tonnes of cargo (+7.9%, year-on-year) including 199,200 tonnes of import cargo (+1.2%), 137,400 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-21.8%). Import of containerized cargo amounted to 29,100 tonnes (-15.5%). Transshipment of machines and equipment totaled 7,050 tonnes (up 5.7 times, year-on-year). Incoming coastal trade containers fell by 32.5% to 1,900 tonnes, scrap metal – 1,410 tonnes (-3%), oil products – down 13.7 times to 0,650 tonnes, other general cargo - 113,400 tonnes (+30.8%).
In January-August, 2008 the port of Archangelsk dispatched 3.088.4 million tonnes of cargo (+24.5%) including 1.355.4 million tonnes of import (+29.7%, year-on-year) – 1.733.04 million tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-21.1%). Export of coastal trade containers amounted to 22,900 tonnes (-47.5%, year-on-year). Transshipment of timber amounted to 361,000 tonnes (-6,2%). Transshipment of cellulose totaled 85,900 tonnes (+60.1%, year-on-year). Transshipment of cardboard and paper climbed 22.7%, year-on-year, to 15,300 tonnes.
Dispatched coastal trade oil and oil products amounted to 1.416.6 million tonnes (-19.8%), other general cargo – 196,800 tonnes (-29.9%, year-on-year). Dispatched coastal trade containers amounted to 21,100 tonnes (-65.2%, year-on-year).
