Russian trawlers to return to world seas
Russia is going for a revival of its industrial fishing in remote world seas, a high-ranking official in the federal Fishery Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) said according to BarentsObserver. He also said Russia should do more to engage in international cooperation with the world leading countries on fish catch and processing.
Mr. Vladimir Belyaev, head of unit in the Fishery Agency, at this week’s International Congress of Fishermen said that Russia would achieve its global fishery ambitions with the establishment of a new state enterprise on fish catch and processing.
-The Rosrybolovstvo has come up with the initiative to establish the state corporation “Rosrybflot”, of which 100 percent of the shares will be state-owned, Mr. Belyaev said. –This organisation will with the support from the state secure the Russian fleet’s efficient work in remote world seas, he added.
In his presentation in the congress, Mr. Belyaev also said that Russia should do more to engage in cooperation with leading fishery nations.
-Under conditions with growing international cooperation in the fishery business, the main factors for Russia is development and strengthening of international cooperation with the main leaders within the field of catch and processing of marine bio resources based on the principles of good neighbourhood and mutual partnership, he said.
