Russian sea ports throughput up 2.3% to 303.7 mln t in Jan-Aug 08
The throughput of Russian sea ports reached 303.7 mln tons in the first 8 months of 2008, this by 2.3% exceed the analogue figures of 2007. The absolute increase amounted 6.97 mln tons. In total the ports handled 129.4 mln tons of dry cargos (+7%) and 174.3 mln tons of tanker cargos (-1.44 mln tons), the Association of sea commercial ports press service informs.
Operators of North-West sea terminals handled over 143.4 mln tons of cargoes (+4%), including 58.2 mln tons of dry cargoes (+8.7%) and 85.2 mln tons of tanker cargos (+1.0%). St. Petersburg port throughput increased by 4.3% (41 mln tons); Murmansk port throughput amounted 18.1 mln tons (+8.6%); the throughput of the port of Vyborg, Vysotsk, Ust-Luga reached 16.4 mln tons and increased by 4.8% basically due to LLC "RPK-Vysotsk-Lukoil-II" – 9.0 mln tons (+16.3%). However, transfer of dry cargoes decreased by 6.1% (7.3 mln tons), including OJSC "Rosterminalugol" terminals - by 5.2% (3.89 mln tons) and LLC «Port Vysotsky» - by 29.5% (0.8 mln tons).
Southern ports throughput decreased by 0.9% to 105.4 mln tons because of tanker cargoes – 72.7 mln tons (-2.1%); meanwhile the volume of dry cargoes transshipment increased by 2.0% and reached 32.66 mln tons. Novorossijsk port throughput decreased by 2.2% and reached 74.3 mln tons. Decreases are also observed at Tuapse port - 1% to 13.0 mln tons, and Taganrog port by 13.6% (1.8 mln tons). At the same time the throughput of Taman ports grew by 32.2% and reached 6.8 mln tons, including dry cargoes – 43.5 mln tons (almost +100%). Makhachkala port throughput increased to 4.5 mln tons (+8.3%), including dry cargoes transshipment - up 15.3% to 1.4 mln tons, and tanker cargos – up 5.6% to 3.2 mln tons.
