NMTP Group throughput up 3% to 53.7 mln tons in Jan-Aug 2008

NMTP Group throughput increased by 3% in January-August 2008 in comparison with the similar period of last year and reached 53,741,900 tons, department on relations with investors of OJSC "Novorossijsk sea commercial port" (NMTP) informs. In the reported period the total throughput of Novorossijsk stevedoring companies being a part of OJSC "NMTP" amounted 52,986,100 tons (+2.6% in comparison with January-August 2007). NMTP Group goods turnover amounted 48,470,900 tons (+1.5%), including oil transfer – 29,056,900 tons (-1.5%), diesel fuel – 5,423,300 tons (+16.9%), black oil – 1,746,600 tons % (+17.7%). Grain transfer reduced by 20% to 2,436,600 tons. 4,239,000 tons of ferrous metals were handled, which by 24.1% exceeds the figure of the similar period of 2007. 529,130 tons of nonferrous metals (-2%) and 36,950 tons of scrap metal were handled. Transfer of chemical cargoes amounted 913,500 tons (+14.3%), perishable cargos – 59,600 tons (+81.6%). Port’s container turnover amounted 89.4 ТEU (+26%).

Throughput of IPP being a part of the Holding increased by 29% and amounted 4,081,200 tons. Diesel fuel transshipment reached 3,212,500 tons (+28%), black oil – 294,500 tons (in 2.4 times exceeds the figure of Jan-Aug 2007).

OJSC “Novoroslesexport" (NLE) throughput increased by 37.7% and reached 2,539,300 tons, including timber - 769,380 tons (-3.1%), container – 109.43 ТEU (+93.2%).

Grain transshipment at Novorossijsk Grain Terminal (NZT) amounted 1,089,600 tons.

OJSC “Novorossijsk ship-repair factory” in January-August handled 1,975,900 tons of cargoes (-3.8%), including ferrous metals transshipment – 1,715,900 tons (-13%), cement – 213,010 tons.

The terminal of Baltic Stevedoring Company (BSC) in Kaliningrad region handled 755,700 tons of cargos (+40%), including container cargoes – 53.24 TEU (+46.1%).

The port of Novorossijsk is a unique deep-water port in the Southern pool of Russia, allowing to carry out all-the-year-round navigation. Novorossijsk is located on the junction of international transport corridors connecting Russia with the Mediterranean, Near East, Africa, Southern and South East Asia, Northern and South America.

In 2006 shareholders of OJSC "NMTP" decided to establish a Holding on the basis of NMTP. The Holding included seven largest stevedoring and service companies of Novorossijsk and Kaliningrad region: OJSC "NMTP", OJSC "Novoroslesexport”, OJSC IPP, OJSC “Novorossijsk Grain Terminal”, OJSC “NMTP Fleet”, OJSC “Novorossijsk ship-repair factory” and LLC “Baltic Stevedoring Company”. In terms of throughput OJSC "NMTP" Holding occupies the 1 place in Russia, the 7th place in Europe and the 39th place in the world.

In 2002 - 2006 Holding’s throughput increased from 50 to 80 mln tons and is expected to grow to 100 mln tons a year by 2010. For providing growth of its throughput the Holding is carrying out an investment program envisaged for 5 years, investments exceeding RUR 20 bln.
