Estonia concludes maritime transport agreement with China
The Estonian-Chinese maritime transport agreement will, in the opinion of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, create opportunities for Estonia becoming a regional distribution centre, The Baltic Course reports according to RZD-Partner.
“The maritime transportation agreement will remove obstacles from developing trade between both countries and will create an opportunity for direct contacts for maritime and transportation enterprises and for further trade co-operation,” commented minister Juhan Parts.
Chinese deputy minister of transport Xu Zuyuan recognised Estonia’s work in concluding the agreement and stated that the Chinese Government will encourage transportation enterprises to invest in Estonia.
“The agreement will demonstrate our co-operation on maritime transportation, but it will also create an opportunity for further co-operation in trade exchange,” said the Chinese minister at the press conference on Wednesday.
The objective of the agreement between Estonia and China is to promote relations between the two countries and their maritime co-operation, securing equal treatment of vessels registered under the flags of the parties in the ports of both countries and facilitating the members of the crews of the ships of the parties to enter the territories of the parties in the agreement.
