In January-September 2008, Russian Railways OJSC carried 1 bln 14 mln 800 thou tonnes of cargo (+1.8%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports.
In the reported period, transportation of coal exceeded 218 million tonnes (+4.9%), coke – over 10 million tonnes (+6.7%), oil and oil products – 174.4 million tonnes (+0.4%), iron and manganese ore – 83.8 million tonnes (+1.9%), ferrous metal – 64.8 million tonnes (+3.7%), chemical and mineral fertilizers – 34.4 million tonnes (+3%), cement – 29.4 million tonnes ( - 8.4%), timber – 44.6 million tonnes (-13%), construction materials – 156.9 million tonnes (+4.3%).
In the 9-month period, the company’s cargo turnover increased by 5.4% to 1 bln 625 mln 700 thou tariff t/km.
