Stocznia Szczcinska Nowa launches 41850-dwt boxship built for FESCO

On October 11 Stocznia Szczcinska Nowa launched the first of the series of boxships B 178-I FESCO DIOMID, FESCO press center reports.

She is the biggest container ship ever built for FESCO. The newbuilt ship specifications are as follows: deadweight 41850 tons, container capacity 3091 TEU, length overall 220,5 m, breadth 32,24 m, draught 12,15 m, speed 22,2 knots and 650 reefer sockets. Her maiden voyage the vessel will make in January 2009.

The shipbuilding contract between FESCO and Stocznia Szczcinska Nowa was signed in July, 2005. The Polish shipyard will build for FESCO 7 containerships – another three sister-ships to FESCO DIOMID and three boxships of В 170-V series of 1730 TEU container capacity. The first boxship of В 170-V series - FESCO VITIM has been deployed on the service between Norther Europe ports and St.-Petersburg.
