In January-September, 2008, the port of Novorossiysk handled 83.285 million tonnes (+2.2%, year-on-year), the port informs. In the reported period transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 20.004 million tonnes (-0.006%, year-on-year), liquid bulk cargo 63.280 million tonnes.
The Port of Novorossiysk is Russia’s busiest port. It covers 65 hectares, 51 hectares devoted to timber and general cargo and 14 hectares devoted to containerized cargo. Quays of 1.4 kilometers contain 11 berths at depths from 5.6 to 13.9 meters. The port yards contain 7.5 kilometers of railway and roads to handle 100 automobiles a day.
