Archangelsk Sea Commercial Port counts on reduced railway tariff for coal transportation

Archangelsk Sea Commercial Port hopes that in 2009 it will have reduced railway tariff for transportation of coal, Viktor Vorobjev, the company’s Commercial Director says.

In 2007, the port concluded an agreement with Mechel on transshipment of export coal. In the 9-month period of the current year the port handled 380,000 tonnes of coal. By the end of the year the port plans to reach 500,000 tonnes. "Such a result is practically a guarantee for reduced tariffs to be set up for railway transportation of coal to the port of Archangelsk," Vorobjev explained.

In general the port plans to handle 1.750 million tonnes of cargo this year.

Archangelsk Sea Commercial Port is a multi-profile stevedoring company operating at the port of Archangelsk. It is specialized in transshipment of general cargo, cellulose, cardboard, containers, timber, metal, fertilizers, heavy equipment and dry bulk cargo.
