China ports eight-month throughput rises 13.4 percent
Cargo traffic at the ports of China in January-August 2011 grew by 13.4% year-on-year, to nearly 5.97 billion tons, the Ministry of Transport of the PRC said.
Freight volume handled at the country’s seaports during the period rose 13.1 percent to 4.07bn tons. Inland ports transshipped 1.9 bn tons of cargo, or 13.9 percent more than a year earlier.
China’s eight-month container throughput grew by 12.6% to 106.77 million TEUs. Box volume handled at seaports was up 11.9% to 95.59 million TEUs.
