Zim follows Hapag-Lloyd, drops Nhava Sheva and diverts to Mundra
Israel's Zim Integrated Shipping has announced its Far East-Black Sea EMX service will drop India's largest container port Nhava Sheva because of congestion and instead divert 500 kilometres north to Mundra from October 24, Shippingazette said.
Zim's EMX service deploys 10 vessels with an average capacity of 4,170 TEU. NYK, OOCL and China Shipping have bought slots on this service, reported American Shipper. Its current rotation is Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen-Da Chan Bay, Port Kelang, Colombo, Haifa, Ashdod, Istanbul, Novorossiysk, Constanta, Istanbul, Haifa, Nhava Sheva (to be replaced by Mundra), Colombo, Port Kelang and back to Busan.
Zim's decision comes after a similar announcement of Hapag-Lloyd saying that a vessel on its Indamex service from North America failed to berth on schedule due to congestion at Nhava Sheva port's government-owned terminals.
