Panalpina launches new Intra Asia LCL services
Panalpina, one of the world’s leading providers of supply chain solutions, announced the launch of three new direct Less than Container Load (LCL) services through its in-house carrier Pantainer Express Line, the Group said Friday.
The new guaranteed weekly services are connected to the Asian key hub in Singapore. They are Singapore inbound from Haiphong (Vietnam), Phnom Penh (Cambodia) and Cebu (Philippines). All new services play part in Panalpina’s Asian growth strategy.
The introduction of the three new Intra Asia services strengthens Panalpina’s position as one of the leading Intra Asia LCL operators. With transit times between three days from Phnom Penh, six days from Haiphong and nine days from Cebu, Panalpina can offer a reliable alternative to existing Full Container Load (FCL) and air freight services in these trades. Freight from Phnom Penh, Haiphong and Cebu to Singapore no longer has to be held back in order to fill a full container. Instead it can be shipped seamlessly through these weekly guaranteed LCL services when it is ready for dispatch.
Constantly adding services in Asia
The new LCL services are part of Panalpina’s long term strategy to grow business on key Asia trade lanes, especially on the Far East Westbound, Transpacific Eastbound, Intra Asia, Asia to Latin America and Asia to Middle East trade. “Intra Asia plays a pivotal role in our global LCL network and in the Group’s growth strategy. We are constantly adding new services through our in-house carrier Pantainer Express Line in this fast growing market to simplify and extend access for our customers”, said Carsten Meyer, Global Head of Ocean Freight LCL at Panalpina.
Easier access to Panalpina’s global network via Singapore hub
Thanks to the new services, customers have easier access to a vast number of existing services that Panalpina operates out of Singapore. Singapore’s strategic location in Southeast Asia makes it a popular port of call in the global shipping routes. For connecting Asia to the rest of the world, Singapore is Panalpina’s most important hub. It is also one of the key oil and gas hubs along with Houston in the USA, Aberdeen in Scotland and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. In total, Panalpina currently employs 300 people in Singapore.
Increased flexibility, reliability and improved supply chain
Less than Container Load or LCL offers the possibility to consolidate multiple consignments from several customers in one Full Container Load (FCL). The Panalpina LCL product consists of numerous direct LCL services in combination with its global strategic LCL hub network.
