Vyborg Shipyard completes delivery of semi-sub rig Polar Star to Gazflot
Vyborg Shipyard (VSZ) has officially handed over to Gazflot, the semi-submersible drilling rig " Polyarnaya Zvezda” (Polar Star), the shipbuilding firm said Tuesday.
The singing of certificate of acceptance for the semi-sub was held on September 27, 2011, at the office of Gazflot.
The turnkey contract worth RUB 58 billion for construction of two semi-submersible rigs of Project MOSS CS-50 MK-II for operations on the Shtokman gas condensate field was signed between Gazflot and Vyborg Shipyard in November 2007. The shipbuilder commenced construction in July 2008.
The platforms will be able to operate in the arctic conditions at depths of 500 m and well drilling to a depth of 7500 m. The expected lifetime of the unit is not less than 20 years with the possibility of further extension. Homeport of the facility is the city of Murmansk.
OJSC Vyborg Shipyard based in Leningrad region specializes in the construction of drilling platforms for the development of offshore deposits, of vessels of small and medium tonnage. The shipbuilding company’s net loss (RAS) for 9 months of 2010 amounted to RUB 202,651,000 vs profit of RUB 1 billion 227.076 million a year earlier. Revenues shrank by 2.7 times to RUB 7,849,754,000.
