Port Vostochny throughput grows 13 percent to 11.3m tons
Cargo volume handled at the terminals of JSC Vostochny Port in January-August 2011 rose 13 percent year-on-year, to 11,291,300 tons, the company said.
In August, Port Vostochny handled 1,633,900 tons, a 20 percent gain over the same period a year earlier.
Specialized Coal Terminal (PPK-3) exported 9,246,400 tons of coal (as of Aug.31), a 14 percent from a year before. Monthly coal throughput of the facility surged 32 percent to 356,000 tons.
In the reporting period, handling of different cargoes at Multipurpose Terminal (PPK-1) rose by 12 percent to 2,045,000 tons. In August, PPK-1 handled 277,900 tons of exports/imports, 16% below last year’s figures.
Vostochny Port JSC is the largest stevedore company in the Russian Far East operating in the port of Vostochny. The company specializes in handling of coal using the conveyor equipment. The company’s assets include a Specialized Coal Terminal and Universal Terminal (PPK-1) for handling general and bulk cargoes (coal, coke, clinker, iron ore, timber, etc.) as well as metals, pulp, aluminum, chemical, heavy-lift and oversized cargo. In 2010, Vostochny Port’s cargo throughput rose 1 percent year-on-year, to14,700,300 tons.
