Cargo handling of Port Vanino up 4% to 5 mln t in Jan-Sep 08

In January-September, 2008, throughput of Port Vanino OJSC amounted to 5.079.2 mln t (+4%, year-on-year), the company informs. In September, the port decreased cargo handling by 6.6%, year-on-year, to 545,100 tonnes.

In the 9-month period, transshipment of export cargo totaled 2.343.8 million tonnes (-2.8 %). In September the port exported 240,800 tonnes of cargo (-4.4 %) including 114,500 tonnes of timber, 63,000 tonnes of aluminum, 62,000 tonnes of coal.

In January-September, 2008, transshipment of import cargo grew by 36.4%, year-on-year, to 1.125.4 million tonnes.

The volume of cargo carried by Vanino-Kholmsk ferry service fell by 3%, year-on-year, to 1.323.4 million tonnes.

In the reported period, transshipment of coastal trade cargo amounted to 286,600 tonnes (+1.5%, year-on-year).

In January-September, 2008, stevedoring company handed 58,626 wagons (+7.2%) and 1,349 vessels (+3.3%) including 586 ferries.       

Vanino Port OJSC is the largest stevedoring company of Khabarovsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR

The length of the port’s berthing line is about 2.5 kilometers.
