CMA CGM, Maruba plan to launch a new weekly joint service between the East Coast of South America and North Europe

French carrier CMA CGM and Maruba of Argentina plan to launch a new weekly joint service between the East Coast of South America and North Europe at the end of November.
The new Safran service will deploy six vessels of 2,800 TEUs each -- five provided by CMA CGM and one by Maruba -- with a large number of reefer plugs.
The French carrier said the large number of reefers plugs is designed to meet the increasing demand for refrigerated transport from Brazil and Argentina to Europe.
The service will enable CMA CGM to double its capacity on the growing trade between North Europe and the South America East Coast.
Port rotation is Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Salvador de Bahia or Suape (every other week), Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itajaí, Paranagua, Rio de Janeiro, Tangier and back to Rotterdam.
The new service will include a weekly stop at Tangier on the way from South America to North Europe, for connections to other CMA CGM services to the Persian Gulf and Africa.
The first vessel to be deployed on Safran will be the CMA CGM Violet, which is scheduled to leave Amsterdam on Nov. 27.
