Shanghai Port exported 7.794 million tons of steel products valued at 9.35 billion U.S. dollars in January-September, up 0.9 percent and 30.3 percent year on year, according to Shanghai Customs Monday. Included was the export of 1.089 million tons in September alone, up 36.4 percent over the same period last year. Analysts attributed the rise to Chinese steel producers' seeking price spread between domestic and soaring world steel markets as China's raising of export tax rate since January has increased production costs.

While other markets such as ASEAN, EU, India, Italy and Hong Kong witnessed declines in the first nine months of this year.
