In January-September 2008 "river-sea" vessels of the North-West shipping company transported 3.948 mln tons of cargoes, the company informs. The company exported 1.669 mln tons of cargoes, which by 14% exceeds the figure of the same period of 2008.
The company carried 67,000 tons of coal (including 60,000 tons for export), 423,000 tons of ferrous metals (including 311,000 tons for export), 21,000 tons of iron and manganous ore, 659,000 tons of chemical and mineral fertilizers (including 374,000 tons for export), 57,000 tons of chemical cargoes (including 41,000 tons for export), 700,000 tons of construction cargoes, 24,200 tons of fruits and vegetables.
Profit from transportations by cargo vessels reached $101.733 mln (+25%, by foreign trip vessels - $89.052 mln (+30.2%).
In 2008 94 vessels carried out cargo transportations, comparing with 110 vessels operated last year.
