The 47,125DWT product carrier SCF Neva (build year – 2006, ice class – 1A) has commenced transportation of crude oil shipments from the Gulf of Ob (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District). This is the largest ship in the history of Russian shipping that ever carried the cargo from this little-explored part of the Russian Arctic, SCF press release said.
The time-chartered Russian-flagged ship transports the cargo of Russian oil giant LUKOIL.
Part of the SCF Neva route will pass along the Northern Sea Route.
During the tanker’s operation in the Gulf of Ob specialists of SCF Group will carry out studies of the fairway and prepare for long-term work on large-scale projects for the export of hydrocarbons from the Yamal Peninsula, announced by Novatech and Gazprom Neft.
The project is implemented in line with the SCF-2017 project, aimed at expanding the company's involvement in the maritime transportation of hydrocarbons from the remote regions of the Russian Arctic. SCF has been increasing in several straight years its presence in the segment of the transport and logistics services in major Arctic fields and provides commercial sailings along the Northern Sea Route, exploring the possibility of transportation of large shipments, opening new routes, offering new logistics solutions to domestic oil and gas companies.
