Port Ilyichevsk seven-month throughput rises 5.9 percent
Cargo traffic at Ilyichevsk Commercial Sea Port (SCPI) in January-July 2012 rose 5.9% compared to the same period of 2011 to 8.9 million tons, the state-owned enterprise said.
In the reporting period the port handled 3.9 million tons of general cargo, 957,000 tons of liquid bulk and 3.92 million tons of dry bulk cargo.
Shipments of grain soared by 201%, of coal – by 133%, handling of imported vehicles jumped by 34%, of iron – by 24%.
Overall, the port handled in the reporting period 1,174 vessels and 537 railcars.
In July, cargo traffic at the Port of Ilyichevsk totaled 1,23 tons, which is by 307,000 tons more than in the same period in 2011. Monthly volume of general cargo reached 491,000 tons, shipments of liquid bulk and dry bulk cargo totaled 85,000 and 658,000 tons, respectively.
State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, a 6-km-long waterfront with 29 berths. Projected capacity of the port's handling and warehouse facilities is over 30 million tons of cargo a year.
