Cochin Shipyard delivers Shipping Corporation of India's vessel
Cochin Shipyard (CSL) today delivered Shipping Corporation of India's 120T Bollard pull Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) 'SCI Ahimsa' at a function here today, The Economic Times reports.
This was the third of the series of four 120T Bollard pull AHTS being built by CSL for SCI, a release by CSL said.
The Protocol documents of the ship were signed by P Vinayakumar, Director (Technical) on behalf of Cochin Shipyard and K Devadas, Senior Vice-President (Technical & Offshore Services) on behalf of SCI, in the presence of Commodore K Subramaniam, Chairman and Managing Director and other senior officials from SCI and CSL.
The vessel is of AH03 type, designed by STX OSV, Norway (ex-Aker Yards) and is certified under dual class by the Rules and Regulations of American Bureau of Shipping & Indian Register of Shipping. This ship is registered under Indian flag with Mumbai as the home port.
This 65.2 x 16.0 Meter vessel is a high end AHTS equipped with Rolls Royce Brattvaag Waterfall type Anchor handling cum towing winch with a tested bollard pull of 120 T Capacity. The vessel is also equipped with two 4000 KW Diesel Engines and two Controlled pitch propeller in Kort Nozzles.
The vessel has Grade I Dynamic Positioning feature along with compliance to ERRV class 'C', which allows the vessel to work as an emergency rescue and recovery vessel in case of an oil field exigency and also has the capability of Fire Fighting class I.
The vessel can accommodate 29 persons with all the capabilities of a Platform Supply Vessel in addition to that of Anchor Handling Tug. This type of vessels are being used as support vessels for various rig move/anchor handling and other offshore supply functions.
The shipyard is at present constructing another 3 offshore vessels for SCI.
