Turkish steel mills partially returned to the deepsea scrap market this week, booking four deepsea cargoes at higher prices so far, market sources said Wednesday, Platts reports.
An Izmir-based steel mill in the west of the country booked a US-origin cargo of 25,000 mt of HMS I/II (90/10 blend) and 15,000 mt of P&S (plate and structural) at $420/mt CFR on Tuesday. A Hatay-based longs producer in the south booked 40,000 mt of HMS I/II (80/20 blend) cargo at 414/mt CFR on Monday.

The sources told Platts SBB that offer prices have climbed since the latest bookings. US suppliers are now being heard offering HMS I/II (80/20 blend) between $417-422/mt CFR, while Turkish mills are looking for $415/mt for the same material.
In the CIS region, A3 grade scrap is being offered at around $400-405/mt CFR, while mills are seeking $395-398/mt CFR for the same.
