Singapore bunker sales steady in July
Bunker sales for all products in the port of Singapore for the month of July were 3,655,200 metric tonnes (mt) in a steady month of bunkering activity, keeping the world's largest bunker port by volume on track for another record breaking year of sales, Ship & Bunker reports.
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) data shows total volumes made a month-on-month rise of 8,300 mt or just less than one quarter of a percent, up from 3,646,900 mt in June.
The slight gain moves the year-to-date average sales per month to 3.628 million mt, up from 3.623 million mt for the first six months of 2012 making it 3 consecutive months that the average monthly sales have exceeded 2011's record average of 3.596 million mt.
Key grade IFO380 sales made a month-on-month rise of 1.43% to 2.924 million mt, while MGO fell for a second consecutive month down 7% to 114,700 mt.
500 cSt product also fell for a second consecutive month dropping 9% to 503,500 mt.
IFO180 saw the biggest gain in percentage terms, correcting last months drop of 27% to gain over 28% in July to 110,000 mt.
Vessel arrivals grew 2.86% to 11,099, while bunkers only calls were up less than one percent from 3,122 in June to 3,151 in July.
Singapore sold slightly more bunkers in the second half of 2011 (21.99 million mt) than in the first half (21.16 million mt) and with projected sales for 2012 of 43.536 million mt based on the current monthly average of 3.628 million mt, 2012 remains on track to edge the current record for bunker sales in the port of 43.153 million mt in 2011.
