Kvichak delivers utility vessels to Superior Energy
Kvichak Marine Industries, Seattle, Wash., recently delivered two 38 ft anchor handling utility vessels to Houston headquartered Superior Energy Services, MarineLog reported.
The all-aluminum vessels are hard-chined monohulls designed by Kvichak in conjunction with Superior. They are fitted with a forward skeg along with forward and aft push knees, heated decks and windows, then rounded out with subsea navigation equipment plus a subsea winch.
Bear Cub I and Bear Cub II are powered by twin Cummins QSB engines rated for 305 bhp each with ZF 305-2 transmissions and propelled by 4 bladed stainless steel props enclosed in nozzles.
Kvichak also delivered two bridge modules that are part the new training simulators at Superior Energy's training facility in Anchorage, Alaska. The modules are reproductions of the actual bridge in the anchor handlers. The modules are located in a room with a surround screen of video monitors that display the simulated surroundings of the environments that the vessels will be working in. This allows the company to train employees to operate the vessels in all conditions. Kongsberg Maritime provided the primary simulation package for the entire simulation system.
