Skanship Neva fined for oil spill in Big Port St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg Transport Prosecutor's Office that initiated investigation into an oil spill case at the port of St. Petersburg, found that LLC Skanship Neva was responsible for the incident. The oil products spill occurred during bunkering of the company’s M/V Angara at Big Port St. Petersburg.
The inspection established that the incident was due to negligence and the lack of control during the bunkering operation. General Director of LLC Skanship Neva said some of the employees had been brought to account.
Moreover, the Prosecutor’s Office imposed on Scanship Neva a fine of RUB 33,000 (over US$1,000) for water body pollution.
