Israel Shipyards launches 4,800-ton merchant ship for German customer
Israel Shipyards Ltd. (ISL) on August 21, 2012 launched another commercial vessel, the 5th in a series of 4,800-ton merchant ships built within the recent years, the shipbuilding company's press release said.
The ceremony took place at Israel Shipyards, and the owners of the ship were present together with guests from various companies, suppliers and customers. The general cargo ship, with a capacity of 4800 tons, is a modern and efficient vessel that will bring the owners a high value for their investment.
Israel Shipyards established in 1959 has become a largest shipbuilding and repair company in the eastern Mediterranean. ISL also operates the first and only privately owned port in Israel. The company’s facilities are located at the Kishon Port (part of the Port of Haifa complex) include a floating dry dock with 20,000 tons of lifting capacity and a 900 meters long wharf with 12 meters of water depth.
