Shreyas Shipping joins alliance for Kolkata-Colombo feeder service
In a major development, Shreyas Shipping has joined hands with the shipping alliance that currently operates feeder services between Kolkata and Colombo, the other members of the alliance being Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) and Seaways Shipping, according to shipping industry sources. “OEL Victory”, the Shreyas vessel, is currently loading at Colombo and expected to leave for Kolkata soon. It has completed loading 350 TEUs. The other vessels currently operating on the route are m.v. Seaways Valour belonging to Seaways Shipping and m.v. Green Valley belonging to SCI.
This mega alliance of Indian ship-owners, the sources indicate, is also planning to extend its operation to other routes covering India’s west coast as well southern ports.
The SCI Middle East India Liner Express (SMILE) service, currently being operated by SCI between the west coast of India and various West Asia ports, is likely to be strengthened with the participation of Shreyas and Seaways, the sources add.
