Throughput of Commercial Seaport of Tuapse down 12% to 4.2 mln t in Q1 09
In the first quarter of 2009, Commercial Seaport of Tuapse handled 4.2 million tonnes of cargo (-12%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from the company. In the reported period Commercial Seaport of Tuapse handled 3.4 million tonnes of oil cargo (-8%, year-on-year) and 0.8 million tonnes of dry cargo (-26%).
Import of raw sugar fell by 83%, year-on-year.
Coal export decreased by 5%; no metal cargo was handled by the company in January-March 2009. Transshipment of grain amounted to 75,000 tonnes.
In the first quarter of 2009, Commercial Seaport of Tuapse handled 12,975 wagons and 174 vessels (including 95 vessels in the port’s oil district and 79 – in dry cargo district).
The company attributes the decrease to the business loss of consignors amidst the global financial crisis.
Tuapse Commercial Seaport (TMTP OJSC) is the main operator in the port of Tuapse, one of Russia’s largest ports. Major shareholder of TMTP OJSC (69.41%) is Universal Cargo Logistics Holding B.V. (UCLH).
