Federation Council ratifies RF-Lithuania agreement on navigation in Kurshski Bay and Kaliningrad region's waterways
Federation Council has ratified the agreement signed by the RF and Lithuania Governments on navigation in Kurshski Bay and waterways of Kaliningrad region.
The agreement was signed in December 2007 at the meeting of Lithuania-Russia intergovernmental committee on trade-economic, scientific-technical, humanitarian and cultural cooperation. The agreement is intended for establishment of a legal basis for Russia-Lithuania cooperation in the sphere of inland water transport and establishment of the procedure and terms for transportation of cargo and passengers by the above waterways.
The document secures the right for a free passage of vessels by inland waterways including calling on the ports, cargo handling and passenger servicing.
The agreement is signed for 5 years and envisages its automatic extension.
